In April 2017 I decided to take a week off to Iceland and make it an epic road trip with my bro Felix. We landed in Keflavik, rented a car and got around in Iceland reviewing our itinerary watching out for road conditions and weather forecasts!
We visited Reykjavik city center and surroundings, hit the road to Vik, the southern tip, where we enjoyed the black sand beach landscape and nice endless view from a lighthouse before relaxing in some remote hot spot.
Few hundreds of miles later we were in the middle of the Kerid volcano crater, golden circle geysers and Pingvellir national park were we got amazed by the rift, place where both European and American tectonic plates split appart!
The biblical horizontal rain got us soaked and we found shelter inside a old catholic school converted into a guesthouse. We had fun using all the cooking wear and professional appliances of the school and eating our diner in the cantine!
We then crossed to the north via the route 60 fighting with the hail and did the full round of the Snafellsnes peninsula, visiting some random shark museum and reaching the western tip with its particularly colourful lighthouses!
We finally got back south by the coastal road and hiked few kilometres to reach a natural hot springs before leaving the country with the traditional Icelandic fish and chips!
